Measures

In 2015 an FDA/NEI Working Group proposed the following as the five most important signs of disease activity:

Posterior segment signs

  • Vitreous Haze
  • Retinal infiltrates
  • Choroidal infiltrates
  • Retinovascular leakage

Anterior segment signs

  • Anterior Chamber Cells

Currently all these signs of inflammation are assessed subjectively by the observing clinician, reducing the reliability and accuracy of these assessments. The aims of EQUATΘR are to develop techniques for objective quantification of each of these components of uveitis activity which will enable more accurate and reliable measurement of disease and response to treatment for both routine clinical use and as an endpoint in clinical trials.
