EQUATΘR – Extended OCT Quantification of Uveitis Activity for Trial Outcomes and Reporting – is an international collaboration for the development of new objective measures of disease activity in uveitis. Uveitis is the name given to a group of sight-threatening eye conditions characterised by inflammation within the eye.

EQUATΘR brings together world leaders from the fields of clinical uveitis, image analysis, and outcome methodology.

Founded in 2013 by Professor Alastair Denniston (University of Birmingham/University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust) and Dr Pearse Keane (NIHR Biomedical Research Centre for Ophthalmology, Moorfields Eye Hospital & University College London), the membership of EQUATΘR now includes over 30 world-leading researchers from over 10 different institutions across the world.

Working together, members of EQUATΘR are developing the tools that will improve detection and monitoring of uveitis in the clinic, and which will facilitate the testing of new drugs in clinical trials.
